About the Group

Established in 2012, Hong Kong Circus combines contemporary circus with multi-arts to pursue its mission ‘Perform to Inspire’.  The group actively promotes contemporary circus in Hong Kong through performances, training, education and exchange activities, drawing its inspiration from local sentiments in its performances, which the audience can relate to and reflect upon.  Seeing performing arts as a part of life and believing in their power to inspire and motivate, the group endeavours to seek breakthroughs, exploring unconventional modes of performance outside the walls of the theatre.

About the Programme

Like turtles, human beings are born with a set of defence mechanisms.  Some people are more sensitive and some are less.  For people with social anxiety disorder, it is natural for them to hide in their shells when feeling nervous, scared or anxious.  Although they would choose to live alone, they could stand on their own feet without succumbing easily to injuries, sickness or environmental changes, thanks to the protection offered by their shells.  Occasionally, they would be less defensive, and enjoy getting to know themselves in a safe haven.  The programme combines several performing arts including contemporary circus, dance and juggling.  During the performance, props such as juggling balls and hemispherical objects will be used to represent turtles and eggs, enabling the audience to relate to the story and characters as they experience how the turtles #Return_with_the_Shell.
