Founded in 1982, Zuni Icosahedron is a non-profit charitable cultural organisation, the most iconic professional experimental theatre group and one of the nine major professional performing arts groups in Hong Kong.

Zuni's theatre-based experimental spirit has pioneered the integration, inheritance and innovation of Chinese and Western art.  Zuni's efforts to promote collaborations for international exchange in areas that are cross-boundary and cross-category have been nourishing generations of new talents, many of whom are now the backbone of various fields in Hong Kong in sectors such as design, movie, photography, comics, popular media, etc.  The Z Innovation Lab is Hong Kong's first-ever performing arts project to integrate the latest theatre technology with creative ideas.  The project provides a dynamic platform where experience can be shared amongst interdisciplinary professionals, and new talents are nurtured, in turn promoting the sustainable development of creative industries in Hong Kong.

Programme Contents

A Cantonese dark comedy

'The Buddha said: you may not say, you may not say.  Saying aloud is a mistake.'—The Nirvana Sutra.  Many things in life are better left unsaid.

The story begins with a neurosurgeon and his neurologist wife, who cannot communicate with each other but converse every moment of the day.  One day, the visit of an old school friend reveals a secret in the family.  Could the truth be told?  Or is it better 'left unsaid'?

The four characters in the play experience everyday routine as well as the impermanence of life.  Among lies, envy and alienation, what unspeakable secrets are hidden?  After three years of a pandemic, have relationships taken an indescribable turn?

Adapted from the original play Left Unsaid by Nick Yu Rongjun, director of Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre.  Cantonese version is adapted by Mathias Woo.
