About the Group

Established in 2003, Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble is an energetic, small scale professional Chinese music troupe, focusing on presenting local culture in its exquisite productions. They aim to highlight the uniqueness of Chinese music, in works that have been described as “small but elegant, simple but refined”. The ensemble has premiered more than 50 new pieces by local composers and has performed a number of programmes with local characteristics in Hong Kong and over 20 countries and regions around the globe in the past years. Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble is now annually funded by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

About the Programme

“Music Beyond the Boundaries” introduces the music art of disabled musicians, especially Naamyam and erhu art, which are closely related to the blind. Professional music therapists lead the audience to understand the stories and songs of famous disabled musicians at home and abroad, and encourage the audience with their indomitable spirit.

The activities include tour concerts, workshops, lectures and finale concerts, which are suitable for the participation of the general public, especially for people with different abilities to meet different needs, providing a platform for professional performance and music learning. “Music Beyond the Boundaries” adheres to the spirit of “music without borders”, allowing art to penetrate into different corners and groups of the community.
